   Introduction the LMI

The Pipe and Machine Manufacturing Company of Iran (LMI) was founded in 1959 as the first national industrial unit of foundry and manufacturer of cast-iron products in Iran, planned to produce cast iron pipes and fittings for home usage as well as cast-iron boilers for meeting the heat requirements of offices and dwelling premises. Its annual production capacity was initially 4,000 tons, mainly allotted to the cast-iron pipes from DN 80 to 400, in 4 and 5.5 meters length, made by using the centrifugal method.

The industrial compound consists of several plants : The pipe manufacturing plant (No. 1) located at the 10th Km of Tehran-Saveh Road is dedicated to production of ductile cast-iron pipes and fittings from the size 100 to 1,000mm with annual production capacity of 60,000MT; butterfly valves from size 150-1800mm; non-return valves in size of 200-1,000mm; air valves of DN50-200mm to the capacity of 3,000MT; cast-iron boilers for central heating systems (in 5 models of S90, S, M90, M and L90 within thermal range of 30,000 to 560,000 kcal/hr.); ground cast-iron heating packages with output range of 14,000 to 25,400 kcal/h, made at the annual capacity of 5,000 MT; rolls and heavy industrial parts weighing up to 18 tons with annual production capacity of 2,500 MT.

The second plant (No. 2) is situated at Kurdan, a place about 20 km west to Tehran-Qazvin Expressway and consists of two different workshops, one a machine-shop and the other a press-shop. The machining and finishing operations of the industrial valves up to 1,800 mm and machining of rolls as well as supplemental workmanship on the ground central heating systems are performed at the machine-shop. The press-shop, with its present annual output around 30,000,000 parts, is active in production of press parts for the automotive industry of the country.

A third plant (No. 3) recently established in a land-lot of 203,000 square meters located at Shams Abad Industrial Town which is allocated to manufacturing of the large size ductile cast iron pipes i.e. from size 1200 to 2000mm. The new site which has been operative since 2008 is planned to upgrade the present annual production capacity to 150,000MT per year.
